INSPIRED BY SNEAKERHEADS, SNEAKER COLLECTORS & SNEAKER FRIENDS.

The Art of Sneaker photography. Welcome to my world of sneakers and my stories behind my wallpaper collection, as a sneaker head & sneaker collector enthusiast myself and long time Nike fanatic and advocate I wanted to create a space for all those sneakerheads, sneaker collectors and sneaker lovers like myself and advocate for the sneaker community, culture, fashion and the creative design culture. I want to use this space to promote, showcase and share stories of some of my close friends & mentors that I respect and look up to in the sneaker community and their love for sneakers. I’ve created & designed a few wallpapers and would like to share them with you all. I have an emotional attachment with sneakers and it’s an extension of who I am as a creative artist. Jose Angel revolutionized and changed the way that people would now look at the importance of a sneaker and it’s culture, to me image and attention to detail is everything. Jose Angel is known and recognized with his sneaker culture approach and the creative direction he takes with his wallpaper collection series. The same key elements and attention to detail that he’s been using in his many years of photography is the same creative approach that he’s taking with his sneaker “Wallpaper Project Collection” . For as long as I can remember growing up in Chicago the sneaker movement and culture was always a big thing in my generation back in the 90’s, everyone was a sneaker collector at heart at some point in their life. From Air Jordan’s, Air Force 1’s to Air Max 1’s and Air Max 90’s. Coming up in a rough neighborhood or environment with drugs, gangs and violence around me wasn’t always easy for me but I always managed to stay inspired and focused and hopefully someday I would be able to design and put my name on something that means a lot to me, sneakers “Saved My Life”. I wasn't fortunate enough to have some of my all time favorite sneakers or kicks during those times, times were tough but we managed to get through. After years of hard work and dedication in the photography & film industry I managed to make a name for myself and the rest was history. As a sneaker collector myself every detail matters to me and every color, texture and design matter to me in the end. As a photographer & filmmaker the same key elements and attention to detail is what I use on my takes, photography & filming techniques and incorporate them in my template designing aspect of my sneaker wallpapers designs. I’m passionate about color palettes, textures, colorways, color blocking, custom finishes and my personal touch designs. So to all my loyal fans and sneaker collectors out there please do feel free to download my Free Wallpaper Collection as a token of my appreciation and thank you for the love and support and let’s continue to collect sneakers and let’s keep the sneaker culture alive, it’s a MOVEMENT it’s not just a sneaker! There’s a story behind every sneaker, every sneaker design matters. Thank you for your time and interest and enjoy my free wallpapers, Jose Angel.

It’s a known fact that colorways, textures, comfort and aesthetic design is what makes a great sneaker but also the inspiration and story behind the sneaker, every sneaker has a unique story and every story deserves to be told. As a sneakerhead and sneaker collector myself for the past few months I’ve been working up and coming up with a concept and strategy design to honor my beautiful Mexico City, CDMX. When I saw the endless possibilities that I can do with the new Nike Phoenix Waffle, I knew instantly that I was going to dedicate this specific style & design to my Mexico City. Being a proud Mexican it was very important to me to incorporate our flag colors red, white & green into the design aspect of this fresh new sneaker, it was my way of paying tribute to my beautiful Mexico City and our culture. Starting with the nice clean white base and suede look and following it up with the famous Nike Swoosh in red leather and the Nike backtab, also adding the green stripe alongside the Midsole topline was a very important detail for me. Finally closing out the final touch it was a must for me to put my very own Seal of Authenticity stamp on this particular pair of sneakers with the “MEXICO” engraved stamped on the bottom left side of the shoe and the “CDMX” engraved stamped on the bottom right side of the shoe. The Nike Waffle allows me to go from a photoshoot to a film set and straight to the gym or a quick run without any interruptions. The versatility and comfort of this sneaker is extremely amazing and that’s what makes it unique. The nice cushion midsole height enhances stability and underfoot cushioning for a smooth comfortable ride. Overall Nike will always bring their A Game with their innovation designs & concepts to the forefront and that is what will always set them apart from the rest globally.

We are known for our towering legendary skyscrapers, sneaker culture, food, fashion and let’s not forget that we are the Capital City of International House Music and we take a lot of pride in that. As a Chicagoan myself born and raised on the Southside of Chicago it’s a huge honor and privilege that Nike always thinks about us and always finds a way to honor our beautiful city and everything that we have to offer. The Nike Air Max 1 ‘86 OG “Chicago” is not just another sneaker to add to your collection. This one is a piece of history, it features a clean white, blue and wolf grey colour palette. The premium leather and suede finishes give this sneaker a very exclusive finish while the 3M reflective Swoosh adds a touch of design. As a unifying touch, this Air Max 1 features a special-edition graphic on the insole and tongue label of the iconic Chicago Skyline. The sail midsole encases Tinker Hatfield’s original four-chamber air unit, and a black and blue rubber outsole provides comfort and durability. Always remember the evolution, in 1987 Nike saw the birth of the Air Max lineage, showcasing visible air for the first time ever. What began as an experiment in cushioning soon evolved into an icon on the track and the streets. Over the years, it’s been reimagined and retooled, but the heritage and history always remains. As a sneakerhead, sneaker collector and architecture enthusiast myself it only made sense that I would go on to create and design a wallpaper that means a lot to me and represents something different and unique inspired by the World-Renowned Tinker Hatfield. Tinker’s idea for his Air Max 1 “Big Bubble” design was inspired by one of his favorite buildings in Paris, France “The Centre Pompidou” and that is when the concept of the Air Max 1 was born and the rest was history. My inspiration behind this wallpaper design was to incorporate everything that Nike, Tinker and the entire team at Nike put into this special project. My goal was to bring out the very specific features and details like the “Maxxed Out” “Big Bubble” and showcase the artistic unique design of the red & white colorway and the famous textures and finishes. The sleek design is definitely one of it’s strongest features on the Air Max 1. Nike will always stand out from the rest for their innovation, technology and creativity. For us sneakerheads or sneaker collectors it’s not just a sneaker it’s a piece of “ART” and a piece of history in the world of sneaker culture.

My roots and humble beginnings come from the rough streets on the Southside of Chicago so it only made sense that I would roll with my southside heavy hitters “The Chicago White Sox”. So when I got the opportunity to create & design my custom Air Max 1’s it only made sense to come up with a design to honor my Chicago White Sox. My Air Max 1’s are definitely one of kind because they hold a lot of sentimental value to me and nobody else has a pair of these. For as long as I can remember I’ve been a loyal longtime fan of my Chicago White Sox. I must admit who doesn’t like their cool colors, uniforms, jerseys and hats it’s a staple in our City of Chicago. When you have big legends like Tupac, N.W.A, Ice Cube, Easy E. and Dr. Dre rocking the Chicago White Sox hat everywhere they go that’s a pretty big deal if you ask me!!! For me going to the ballpark as a kid into my adult years and fast forward years later taking my own kids to the White Sox games is always a great experience. Being able to enjoy numerous games with friends and family members along with a great ballpark hotdog and watching the fireworks at night when my White Sox win a game is a great feeling, that’s what baseball is all about at the end of the day to bring people together for the love of baseball for generations to come. From watching my all time favorite first baseman, hall of famer, world series champion and grand slam hitter Frank Thomas “The Big Hurt” rocking it out of the ballpark to watching players like Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, Ozzie Guillen, Carlton Fisk, Robin Ventura, Paul Konerko, A.J Pierzynski and Jim Thome just to name a few!! But let’s not forgot our greats like Tim Anderson, Yoan Moncada & Jose Abreu . Which ever White Sox player was your favorite we all shared a common interest and that was to go to the ballpark, have a beer and a hotdog and watch a great baseball game in good company……………The Chicago White Sox have legendary history in my hometown, CHITOWN!!

My inspiration behind my custom Air Max 90’s “The Chicago White Sox” goes way beyond my expectations. As a Southside of Chicago native, born & raised on the rough streets on the Southside of Chicago really made me appreciate the love for “art, baseball & music”. Three things that I’m passionate about are my Chicago White Sox, my love for Chicago House Music and I’m a huge sneaker collector at heart. Chicago is not only my home it’s the place that made me who I am today and it’s also the home of my Chicago White Sox. Very early on I knew I had to pick a baseball team that I would stick with through the up’s and down’s or thick and thin and that meant that who ever I picked I was going to remain loyal to my hometown team no matter what. That is when I decided to go with my Chicago White Sox and I’m glad I did because that was going to be the beginning of my love for baseball. When I got the opportunity to design my custom Air Max 90’s it only made sense that I would incorporate all the things that I’m passionate about like color palettes, textures and my personal touch design the “SOX” stitched on the back of my custom 90’s to make it official and people can see who I roll with in Chicago. The “Chi” hat is definitely a huge representation of who I am, us Southsiders like to say “CHITOWN” we don’t SHY away from anything lol! . The Nike Air Max 90 stays true to its OG running roots with the iconic “Air Max” air cushioning system technology, stitched overlays and classic TPU details and carefully stitched premium tumbled leather that gives the Air Max 90 a very smooth classic finish with the fresh colorway style and curves. As a sneaker collector myself every detail matters to me and every color, texture and design matter to me in the end. As a photographer & filmmaker the same key features, elements and attention to details that I use on my takes, photography & filming techniques I incorporate them in my designing aspect of sneakers. So to all my loyal Chicago White Sox fans out there please do feel free to download my Free Wallpaper as a token of my appreciation and thank you for the love and support for our Chicago White Sox and let’s keep WINNING!!

Going into the designing process of my custom Air Force 1’s “The Chicago’s” I knew that I wanted to incorporate my Chicago Bulls colorways of black, red & white because they are a representation of my City of Chicago and of course let’s not forget the greatest of all time Michael Jordan who led the team to six NBA championships. From the stitching to the colorways down to the textures and the final finishing touches like the stitching of “ CHI-CGO” on the back of the Air Force 1 representing Chicago. His wallpaper designs are tied in with his creative visual aspect of the sneaker and the workmanship quality. Jose Angel utilizes his years of experience as a photographer, designer and creative director and photographs these sneakers as if they are public figures or legendary status just like the people and brands he has collaborated with over the years because in the world of sneakers these are “Legendary Sneakers” to him and the rest of the sneakerheads and sneaker collectors from all around the world.

For as long as I can remember growing up in Chicago the sneaker movement and culture was always a big thing in my generation back in the 90’s, everyone was a sneaker collector at some point in their life. From Air Jordan’s, Air Force 1’s to Air Max 1’s and Air Max 90’s. Coming up in a rough neighborhood or environment with drugs, gangs and violence around me wasn’t always easy for me but I always managed to stay inspired and focused and hopefully someday I would be able to put my name on something that means a lot to me. I wasn't fortunate enough to have some of my all time favorite sneakers or kicks during those times, times were tough but we managed to get through. In 1989 I was introduced to House Music and that was going to be the biggest game changer in my life. True story but not many people know that I started DJing in my earlier days, I loved the feeling of spinning two records simultaneously and matching beats and fading in and out your high’s and mid’s and feeling the music just take over the room it was something unexplainable. To be completely honest with you I tried so hard to master the craft of Djing but I really sucked at it!! Lol I’m just keeping it real! Some people think it’s so easy that anyone can do it but they are so wrong, trust me I know. That is why I have so much respect for all my DJ & Producer friends because that music holds a special place in my heart it goes way back. Later on I would go on to pick up a camera and from that point on the rest was history because that was going to be my calling. Through my passion of photography and filmmaking I got a chance to meet and collaborate with some of the biggest House Music DJ’s & Producers in the world. So as a token of my appreciation I wanted to show some love to my “House Music Community”. So when I got the opportunity to create & design my custom Air Max 1’s “The Chicago’s” it only made sense to come up with a design to honor all those DJ’s , Producers and musicians that spend countless hours everyday in their studios or labs creating great music and “ART” for the world to enjoy. Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart that believed in me and saw my vision and took a chance on me it means the world to me. For now enjoy my Free Wallpaper and stay tuned for my House Music Documentary Coming Soon……

I have an emotional attachment with sneakers and filmmaking and telling stories is no exception. These 2 things are my biggest passions, what if I was to tell you that my love for sneakers & cameras saved my life. Very early on I knew that my creative and artistic side was only going to save me from any future dangers or bad choices in life. For Jose Angel growing up in the rough streets and being surrounded by drugs, gangs and violence in his neighborhood wasn't the easiest or the best lifestyle for him as a kid, he lost a few close friends along the way due to gangs, drugs and violence in Chicago. Having family members and friends that had ties to gangs made him realize quickly that he needed to choose a different path for his future. That’s when he decided to pick up a camera and the rest was history. So when I got the chance to design my custom Air Max 90’s I wanted to design a sneaker that I would be able to wear in between film sets, photoshoots, behind the scenes and on the go but also at the same time providing that comfort on my feet being on my feet for hours doing what I love to do the most. I wanted to give my 90’s that fresh stealth look and at the same time providing the key features on the bottom air bubble sole while at the same time emphasizing on the important details of the textures, patterns and finishes. As a photographer, director and cinematographer my job is to capture a frame or image and tell a story with my creative direction in hopes of inspiring and motivating others to chase after their dreams. Growing up Jose Angel grew up DJing and listening to House Music, Deep House, Tech House, Disco House, French House, Acid House and everything else in between. This allowed him to work alongside and build friendships and longtime relationships with some Legendary names in the House Music industry such as DJ Sneak, Bad Boy Bill, Ralphi Rosario, DJ Jes, Derrick Carter, Czr, The Phantoms Revenge, Paul Johnson, Frankie Knuckles, Rafael “Ito” Garcia, Todd Terry, Mark Farina, Felix Da Housecat, DJ Colette & DJ AM just to name a few. This allowed him to experiment with different artist and incorporate their music in film scores on some of his projects. Jose Angel is currently working on a House Music Documentary to be released in the near future so stay tuned………

Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a sneakerhead at heart, especially the Air Max Collection. I introduce to you the latest addition of the AIR MAX family the “Air Max SYSTM”. Knowing that I can now wear these for multi-purposes is a real game changer. Some people kept saying that New Balance are dad shoes or are only for old people so I had to step in and change the game and perspective for some people. The “237” Black Neo Flame speaks for itself it definitely changed the game. I changed the way people will now look at the 237, “This is NOT an Old Man Shoe” The 237 is a contemporary reinterpretation of ‘70s running heritage that melds a range of heritage design inspirations into one deceptively simple, exceptionally versatile, contemporary silhouette. An EVA midsole, herringbone outsole and streamlined upper offer a classic launching point for modern flourishes like oversized “N” branding, extended midsole length, and gator inspired foxing and mudguard. You could call the cohesion of the 237’s familiar feel and exaggerated updates the simplest way to make a statement. Every detail matters with the 237 it’s comfort at it’s finest.

The Puma Future Rider is definitely one of my favorite sneakers from the PUMA family collection. This unique sneaker has the qualities and the comfort down to the T. It’s versatility and comfortable IMEVA midsole lightweight cushioning gives me the comfort and reliability in between my photoshoot sessions and film sets. As a sneaker collector myself every detail matters to me, from the colorways & textures to the stitching to the smooth quality leather finish. Back in 1980, the Fast Rider was one of PUMA’s most comfortable yet simplistic running shoes, with a super-light design and shock-absorbing outsole. Today, we’ve revamped the Fast Rider as the Future Rider – reborn for casual-cool street style with bold material play and colorblocking, a slimmer outsole, and ultra-comfortable Rider Foam.

These Air Max 1’s are a tribute to my Chicago White Sox.

As 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and the 70th anniversary of the 59Fifty ball cap there is an authentic opportunity to tell the story of the White Sox ball cap – an iconic piece of hip-hop and cultural history that has continued to this day.
